The Church Public Affairs Specialist in Astana , Nurbek, has been working as our translator.  This arrangement has made it easy to involve him in projects and closings.   Recently he made contact with some potential partners in the city of Kokshetau, which happens to be his hometown.    We traveled there and had a meeting with eleven directors of hospitals, schools, orphanages and centers for the disabled.

Note the name of the city on the hillside.  Nurbek said it is like Hollywood.

That same day we were able to visit three of the organizations including a school for developmentally disabled children, a center for disabled young adults, and a children’s hospital.

  1. Ha! I don't know if Hollywood ever has those temps and snow..

Did he drive you there? It doesn't look close.

    Good pictures!

    1. We hired a car and driver for the day. It was three and a half hours each way, so it turned out to be an eleven hour outing. I never thought I would be road tripping in Kazakhstan.
