| Although most Kazakhs don't celebrate Christmas there are decorated trees, lights, and other decorations around the city. The biggest holiday of the year is New Year's. Father Frost brings presents and there will be fireworks. |
We celebrated Christmas with our four elders and sisters. After enjoying Christmas dinner together they were able to Skype with their families.
This cute snowman appeared in our courtyard on Christmas day.

Merry Christmas Despains! My parents were asking yesterday when you will be coming home. Is must be sometime in 2015? I also got an answer right playing Trivial Pursuit last night....the answer was Kazakhstan. I thought you'd be proud. :)

ReplyDeleteJune is just around the corner! Where will "home" be when you return to the US? And, I should have mentioned, I now know someone else over in Astana. My former global marketing professor at Purdue (he was a full-time marketing professor at Northwestern and an adjunct prof at Purdue) took a job in Astana setting up a new business school. Small world. The trivial pursuit question was something along the lines as the largest country geographically from the former USSR that does not border an ocean....
