An overnight ice fog made all the trees in the city white and sparkling. The pictures I took with my phone don't do it justice.
It has been a good week. The project to provide bedding and appliances to an orphanage was approved. Our greatest success this week was finding a place where we could buy wheelchairs. We needed to purchase ten wheelchairs for children with cerebral palsy and other impairments, and they needed to be purchased in Kazakhstan. We had no idea it would be such a challenge! The store had six chairs and agreed to order the other four from Russia to fill our order.
These boys are sledding from the river walk down a steep incline and then right onto the frozen river. Lots of fun!
An army of workers spend long days keeping the walkways clear.
I have been trying to get a picture of one of these baby sleds since last winter. It is usually too cold to take my gloves off for picture taking. The weather has been nice the past few days.
Jaina (pronounced Zhanna) is leaving this afternoon for a trip to the temple in Kiev, Ukraine. She let me help prepare her family names to take. Her notes were hand written in Kazakh and needed to be entered in Russian. I was slow, but she was patient with me.
